Must Watch Series

10 most popular series on Netflix this week: November 2022

The reign of The Crown looks set for another week, at least. The fictionalised account of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign may have come under fire for being a highly dramatised show, but fans are still completely engrossed in its fifth series.

The fifth series focuses on the turbulent relationship of Prince Charles and Princess Diana and how the couple were destined for disaster as their private affairs became public records. The show was put on hold after the Queen’s death this year, but it seems viewers still can’t get enough, with another 84 million hours of viewing amassed, taking the total for its two-week tenure closer to 200 million.

A couple of mainstays also steadfastly keep their spot in the most popular series of the week. Manifest season four continues to enjoy wild success with another 35 million hours of viewing, ensuring it stays in the charts for a third week, while series one is still gathering viewers for its 22nd week in the top ten.

There are also spots in the most popular list this week for both seasons of The Warrior Nun and the latest documentary from controversial scientist Graham Hancock, Ancient Apocalypse. The latter aims to prove Hancock’s theory that a pre-historic civilised society was wiped out by a cataclysmic event.

That, as well as The Warrior Nun, are two new entries to the chart, with another two coming from completely different ends of the entertainment spectrum. First is the third season of Dead To Me, a dark comedy that sees Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini attempt to keep their murderous crimes covered up. The other is 1899, a deeply emotional and treacherous allegory for the current migrant crisis.

It’s set on a migrant steamship bound from Europe to New York, wherein everyone on it is “running away from something”, with none what they seem. Then, in the middle of their journey, they come across a mysterious ship, the Prometheus, which has been missing for months, drifting lifelessly on the open sea. Things take a dark turn when the crew decides to board the ship, and what ensues is yet another mind-melting plot.

That’s our choice for your watching this week, but elsewhere on the list are laughs, tears and scares, making it one of the better weeks for Netflix’s series. Find the full list below.
