The 10 most popular series this week: December 2022

Another week, another roundup. As we head towards the climax of 2022, one thing is clear: the record-breaking success of Tim Burton’s hit series Wednesday has not yet dwindled. The programme, which stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, is still sitting comfortably at number one this week, having raked in a dizzying 118,540,000 hours of viewing time.

As with most hit shows, Wednesday seemed to come out of nowhere. A refreshing, leftfield and impossibly stylish take on the coming-of-age drama, it has surpassed Stranger Things as Netflix’s most-steamed series and looks set to replace it as the streaming site’s flagship production.

Holding the number two spot is the third season of Emily In Paris, which, though much-maligned when it first arrived on our screens back in 2020, seems to have taken on board the numerous criticisms fired at season one (currently occupying the numebr ten spot) and two, Having spent just one week on Netflix, this third season has already garnered a frankly astonishing 117,610,000 hours of viewing time.

This week’s other big hitters include the first season of The Recruit, which stars Noah Centineo as Owen Hendricks, a CIA lawyer who becomes involved in the cloak-and-dagger world of international espionage after a former asset threatens to expose top-secret information. Below that, at number four, is last week’s number two, Harry & Meghan, the limited series detailing the couple’s relationship with the Royal Family.

Meanwhile, the first season of Sonic Prime is still at number five, while the second season of Firefly Lane, starring Sarah Chalke, has dropped down to number 9 and been replaced by the fourth season of Too Hot To Handle, which is currently at number six.

Round of this week’s top ten, we’ve got The Witcher: Blood Origins, which arrived on Christmas Day and is currently sitting at number seven, having accumulated 15,870,000 hours of viewing time. Then, just below that, we’ve got a new arrival in the form of I Am Killer season four. Check out the full top ten list below.
