10 most popular films on Netflix this week: September 2022

Diving deep into the most popular films currently streaming on Netflix and there is a strong sense that the streaming platform is once again hitting its peak. A plethora of original content now dominates the charts. Let’s dive in and take a look at the most popular films on Netflix.

We have a new leader of the chart this week with the Ludacris and Queen Latifah-led on-the-road thriller End of the Road. Billed as one of the year’s most exciting releases, Netflix’s audiences have jumped at the chance to catch the new film and have been viewed for 30 million hours this week.

It’s one of six new entries on to this week’s charts. As well as the critically-maligned Morbius (12 million hours viewed), the chart also sees the addition of the Wayans brothers’ off-kilter comedy White Chicks (9 million hours viewed), a movie that has proved to be one of the cult classics of the modern era. There is also the obligatory entry for Labor Day (6 million hours viewed), which coincides with the US holiday of the same name.

Despite being regarded as one of the lowest-rated films in Netflix’s history, somehow, Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg’s buddy film Me Time is still present in the charts, dropping from the top spot to fourth on the list.

Me Time sees the duo combine in the wacky comedy that “follows a Dad who finds time for himself for the first time in years while his wife and kids are away. He reconnects with a friend for a wild weekend.” It has chalked up an incredible 20 million hours of viewing in its third week on the charts.

Perhaps the best movie still on the list, however, is I Came By, which collected 27 million hours of viewing and stars Hugh Bonneville in a crime thriller. It’s one of the best films the streaming platform has been a [art of and deserves a bit of attention.
