Each week we will bring you the ten most popular Netflix films across the globe as we aim to always provide the very Best of Netflix. This week has seen another huge milestone for Ryan Reynolds as well as some Netflix films that are slowly becoming bonafide classics in their own right.
Concentrating solely on the week that has just passed, we are bringing you the ten most popular films on Netflix, with millions of hours streamed as a handy indicator for what everyone will be talking about in the office and at home.
Before we dive into the new releases and the top spots, it’s worth paying attention to the classic films that never seem to diminish in popularity. For example, the top 10 list for the global audience sees four animated films break into the top spots. The always fantastic Shrek, starring Mike Myers as the titular ogre, enjoys its second week in the top ten, as does the sequel Shrek 2, enjoy 20 million hours of streaming between them.
The longest-running top ten entry is also an animated feature as Despicable Me 2 spends its sixth week in the chart, providing a little comic relief to the treacherous world we live in. In fact, there is a distinctly family-orientated set of films with Coach Carter providing some young adult dramedy and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse another smash hit for families.
Of course, the family theme also runs straight to the top as Ryan Reynolds’ latest project with Deadpool director Shawn Levy hits the top spot, amassing nearly 100 million hours worth of streaming in its first weekend of release, topping the charts and improving Reynolds record once more.
