10 most popular films on Netflix this week: July 2022

Amid news of Netflix suffering subscriber loss, owing partly to content generation and financial issues for the audience base, those who still have their subscription are still watching movies with a voracious appetite. Below, we’re looking into some of the most pop films on Netflix right now.

Bringing up the rear of the most popular films on Netflix this week is the teen drama Hello, Goodbye And Everything In Between with over 6 million hours worth of watching hours accrued. In ninth place is Adam Sandler’s basketball movie Hustle which has been in the top ten for six weeks, showing that it isn’t only comedy that Sandler excels at.

Also in the top ten is the Woody Harrelson and Kevin Hart film Man from Toronto, which has been storming the charts for four weeks, this week accruing another 13 million hours of viewing. Likewise, Sing 2 is also experiencing the fourth week in the top ten.

Naturally, with every move the Spider-Man franchise makes, a new flock of audience members follow and Spider-Man: No Way Home makes its way into the chart for its first week. The same can be said for 12 Strong, CHIPS and with nearly 30 million hours of viewing under its belt, Persuasion, the Jane Austen adaptation, takes the second spot.

But, for the second straight week, The Sea Beast is the most popular film on Netflix. And with good reason, the brand new animation is already being showered with praise by critics, The Sea Beast, by the director of Bolt, Big Hero 6 and Moana, tells the story of a young girl who hides away on the ship of a legendary monster hunter, sparking an epic adventure.

Helmed by Chris Williams, the creative behind such aforementioned Disney movies, the script is co-written by himself and the debut feature film screenwriter Nell Benjamin. The picture has amassed nearly 70 million hours of viewing this week alone.
